Episode 14: Angie Agius - Being an ADHDer in Far North Queensland
Meet Angie. She was diagnosed with ADHD before it was cool. She grew up in Far North Queensland on a large property, where running amok was considered “normal” and hyperactivity was something that you just burned off outdoors before coming in for dinner.
In this episode we chat about:
The wait times for getting assessed.
The sudden rise in adult ADHD diagnoses, and why that can be a double edged sword.
Misconceptions around ADHD (there’s still such a lack of awareness out there!).
Her family’s reactions to her ADHD diagnosis.
Why she went from being anti-medication to later finding it helpful.
Self-acceptance and self-compassion.
Becoming an advocate for the ADHD community.
